TribalSource

 Yomud Turkmen OkBosh, Central Asia, 19th century, 1'8 x 1'10", $1800

This extremely colourful example of Turkoman weaving represents an awesome opportunity to buy a world class example as well rare example of a format that is often referred to as “ok bosh”. Conventional wisdom deems these pieces to have been used as tent pole covers during the migration. But I personally doubt this theory as these bags are too small for such a purpose as well as are too posh and expensive textiles to imagine being used for such a pedestrian purpose. Such pieces are rarely illustrated in the literature as there are just not many around. The aethetic quality is quite compelling with jagged zig zag motifs in various colors across the field.

COLORS -- All natural dyes

CONDITION -- Good, with no holes, no stains, no repair, one minor wear line near the top center. The triangular flaps at the bottom are intact, a nice feature as often these appear damaged or torn from use. This is an antique textile therefore it cannot be expected that it will be in "new condition". The terms used for describing condition are consistent with common usage in the marketplaces all over the world. Obvious flaws including repair, holes and stains WILL BE noted in all descriptions.

SHIPPING POLICY -- TribalSource will gladly pay any shipping costs for rugs and textiles that are sold to clients within the US. International buyers will pay for shipping costs. In the event of return of an item, the client is responsible for shipping costs both ways. Shipping will be done by the least expensive method possible, usually the US Postal Service offers the most expedient service for the price with PRIORITY MAIL available for domestic shipments, airmail parcel post for international shipping. Insurance is recommended but the responsibility of both US and international buyers. As is my policy with both eBay and www.cocoontr.com, full payment should be made prior to shipping. Known clients of mine with a favorable history can expect same day shipping when payment is received, with no waiting period involved.

RETURN POLICY -- Any rug will be gladly taken back (shipping costs for BOTH ways the responsibility of the client) with full refund of cost price (less shipping costs) up to 7 days after the rug was received. Naturally, it must arrive back in the same condition as it was sent. I realize that buying from photos can be risky but TribalSource on eBay has never had a problem with representational photographs or with accurate condition reports, etc.
