Uzbek Lakai Embroidery, Central Asia, 19th century, 1'10 x 1'11", $475 |
|
| Literal representation of motifs is not the usual fare within the context of Lakai embroidery, but this example is exceptional in that regard. Along with the graphic, and somewhat abstract floral representation, one can see the figure of a man with a horse included as a minor element as well as a pot and some sort of zoomorphic insect figure as well. Such embroideries are regarded as cherished family heirlooms to this day and served as talismans, hung in the corners of tents and homes to serve as protection devices against the evil eye as well as warding off bad luck. |

COLORS -- All natural dyes
CONDITION -- Some corrosion in the black dyed silk thread, no holes, no stains, no repair. This is an antique textile therefore it cannot be expected that it will be in "new condition". SHIPPING POLICY -- TribalSource
will gladly pay any shipping costs for rugs and textiles that
are sold to clients within the US. International buyers will
pay for shipping costs. In the event of return of an item, the
client is responsible for shipping costs both ways. Shipping
will be done by the least expensive method possible, usually
the US Postal Service offers the most expedient service for the
price with PRIORITY MAIL available for domestic shipments, airmail
parcel post for international shipping. Insurance is recommended
but the responsibility of both US and international buyers. As
is my policy with both eBay and www.cocoontr.com, full payment
should be made prior to shipping. Known clients of mine with
a favorable history can expect same day shipping when payment
is received, with no waiting period involved.

RETURN POLICY -- Any rug will be gladly taken back (shipping costs for BOTH ways the responsibility of the client) with full refund of cost price (less shipping costs) up to 7 days after the rug was received. Naturally, it must arrive back in the same condition as it was sent.
